MRCP is non-invasive imaging. EUS can evaluate the pancreas and bile ducts in close detail and may allow sampling in selected cases. ERCP is now mainly therapeutic, for example for bile duct stone extraction, dilation or stent placement. The correct sequence depends on symptoms, blood tests and imaging findings.

MRCP, EUS and ERCP are not the same test
They may answer different stages of the same clinical question: imaging, detailed assessment and treatment when needed.
